SABRA é um festival de arte criado em 2018, que vai colocar Israel no circuito da arte contemporânea de Curitiba. Contará com obras de arte das principais galerias de Israel e com a participação de curadores especializados que farão uma seleção prévia das melhores obras para o festival. Em parceria com a Performance Art Platform Tel Aviv, Contemporão SP e P.Arte, o SABRA apresenta também um setor voltado especialmente a performances, que trará os artistas para Curitiba, junto ao Consulado Geral de Israel de São Paulo. Israel é o país homenageado, iniciativa do festival que contribui com a cooperação cultural entre o Brasil e Israel, que comemora 70 anos. O festival nasce de um questionamento sobre a ligação entre a arte judaica e a israelense. Tentando concatenar todas as informações que se apresentam, apreender visualmente tudo e tentar catalogar essa distinção. Entender o que é feito em Israel e o que é feito para turistas. Em uma dessas buscas urgentes por elementos significativos do que possa ser uma arte israelense, encontro um Manual de Plantas da Terra de Israel, escrito por Oriya Feldman como um legado para o povo de Israel, em 1951 - três anos depois da sua criação. O problema a ser resolvido tomou sentido a partir desse vade mecum, que não trata da arte, mas trata da pulsão de uma recém-chegada nas terras onde se constituiu o Estado de Israel em catalogar os elementos ao seu redor, sob um ponto de vista científico. Quase setenta anos depois, parece essa pulsão ser a mesma que instiga esse projeto com curso inverso ao que foi inicialmente proposto.
SABRA is an art festival created in 2018 that will put Israel in the circuit of contemporary art in Curitiba. It will feature works from Israel's main galleries and with the participation of specialized curators who will make a prior selection of the best works for the festival. In partnership with the Performance Art Platform Tel Aviv, Contemporão SP and P.Arte, SABRA also presents a section focused on performance, which will bring the artists to Curitiba, together with the Israel Consulate General in São Paulo. Israel is the honored country, initiative of the festival that contributes with the cultural cooperation between Brazil and Israel, that celebrates 70 years. The festival is born from questioning about the connection between Jewish and Israeli art. Trying to concatenate all the information that is presented, visually apprehend everything and try to catalog this distinction. Understand what is done in Israel and what is done for tourists. In one of these urgent searches for significant elements of what might be an Israeli art, I find a Handbook of Plants of the Land of Israel written by Oriya Feldman as a legacy for the people of Israel in 1951 - three years after its creation. The problem to be solved made sense from this vade mecum, which does not deal with art, but deals with the drive of a newcomer in the lands where the State of Israel was constituted in cataloging the elements around it from a scientific point of view. Almost seventy years later, it seems that this drive is the same that instigates this project with a reversal of what was initially proposed.
